Announcement on New Notification Procedures
for Delayed Openings and School Cancellations

Dr. Edward J. Shine, superintendent of schools, announced today that he will initiate a new procedure to notify parents and students of delayed openings and school cancellations for the upcoming winter season.

Using School Messenger, an emergency calling system, Dr. Shine will notify parents and students between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. if there is to be a delayed opening or school cancellation because of severe weather.  That same information will be posted on the District website, sent as an email message, posted on both Channel 77 (Cablevision) and Channel 40 (FIOS), and placed on the voice mail message to the District's general telephone number, 967-6100.

If for some reason none of those systems are working properly, information will be posted on WFAS (1230 AM/103.9 FM), WHUD (100.7 FM) and News 12 Westchester.

If a student or parent has checked all of those notification points and information regarding a delayed opening or a school cancellation is not there, it means that school is open and students are to report for a normal day of school.

Please keep this notice for future reference.
